For a same-day answer, call ACACC at 717-334-7671. Ask whether the person remains there, left for the community, or moved to another custodian. Give a full name, approximate booking date, and a booking or docket number if known. A simple absence is weak proof. ACACC may have returned a court-transported person to another prison, sent a state-sentenced person to PA DOC, or honored a detainer.
The Sheriff's published duties make that transfer issue concrete. Adams County transports prisoners between ACACC and court, and some people brought to local proceedings are housed in prisons outside the county or outside Pennsylvania. Their departure from ACACC may be a return to the sending prison. A bond release ends the jail stay while the criminal case continues. Time served means the custodial part was met. County parole is conditional community release from a county sentence. Transfer ends ACACC custody but not confinement. Those distinctions matter more than the fact that one local record was closed.
Adams County Discharge Records Endure
There is a sharp local contrast between online access and record retention. Adams County offers no official rolling 24-hour release display, but Pennsylvania's county retention schedule classifies county-prison Commitment and Discharge Record Books as permanent. A discharge entry may identify the person, the committing authority, and commitment or discharge dates. Retention does not make every field public. Exempt or private content can still be withheld or redacted.

Adams County Bail Release Checks
The ACACC Inmate Handbook describes a local path for nominal bail, release on recognizance, or supervised-bail consideration. An incarcerated person may submit an Inmate Request Slip to the Institutional Parole Officer, who assesses eligibility. Records can also provide a bonding-company list. Neither step proves that a judge granted bail or that the release desk completed processing.

Adams County Release or Transfer
A person released to the community has left physical confinement, although bail, probation, county parole, or state parole may impose conditions. Someone still held at ACACC remains in county custody. A person sent to a state institution has ended the Adams County jail episode but remains confined. Work release also is not final release. ACACC participants may leave for approved activity while still serving the confinement part of a sentence.
